How it's done done done 🎶

A few weeks ago, I was at my cousin's house and he asked, "Have you seen Kpop Demon Hunters?"

And I was like.... no?

He goes, "I'm putting it on."

Loved it, 10/10, no notes. I don't know what I was expecting but it wasn't that.

I went home and watched it again a few days later. (Am I hooked?)

I won't spoil it, but it has a lot of philosophical story lines. Good & evil, feeling uncomfortable about our true selves, stepping into your power...it got deep!

This movie became an international sensation, and I believe it's due to the deep storytelling involved. I have not met a single person who has not liked this movie.

It really had me thinking about some of the themes I talk about here. Using stories to captivate people, thinking of your customer's stories to position your product, etc.

There is a song in the movie called "How It's Done," and you don't need to know more than that to get what I'm about to say.

So many people I've worked with in *any* marketing capacity do not share their behind the scenes enough. There is so much to say about how your product or service came to be.

And I've gotten variations of this question: "no one will care about my story".

I PROMISE THEY WILL. I do!

When I am in the market to buy something, especially from a creator or online business, I 100% care about their story. In fact, for some products I've purchased, I REMEMBER the stories that led me to buy the product.

So, show them how it's done. If anything, for the fans!

Now if you haven't seen the movie go watch it. I now evangelize for this movie, apparently 😅

Brb listening to the soundtrack now,

Dom

This is a quote from Soviet dissident Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn from his famous book, "The Gulag Archipelago." It's one I reflect on often, and it sits especially heavy on my heart after last week. "Gradually, it was disclosed to me that the line separating good and evil passes not through states, nor between classes, nor between political parties either—but right through every human heart—and through all human hearts." That's the newsletter for today. 🤍, Dom 1230 22nd Ave Kenosha, WI...

I woke up today to a brisk morning and realized it's almost SEPTEMBER?! K! Bye, where did summer go? Though I'm not looking forward to a long winter, the colder months are definitely when I reflect more. Last winter, I had damn near a whole reinvention of self. One could say I locked in. Locked in but never stressing It's not too late Q4 can really seem like a blur. Fall comes, the holidays follow, and boom - it's 2026. But last year, instead of falling into the mindset that the year is...

I think I used 3 different types of tomatoes yesterday: tomatoes from the garden, campari tomatoes, and heirloom. Hey, they're in season! And hey, I'm Italian-American. Tomatoes come in many forms in this household. This, a piece of bread, and a Diet Coke? It's over. Sorry for making you hungry. If you need a snack before you continue reading, I get it. (I'll wait for you). Now answer me this: if you had an heirloom tomato in your hand, would you eat it within a day or so or eat it in a year?...
