I made pasta for you

I think I used 3 different types of tomatoes yesterday: tomatoes from the garden, campari tomatoes, and heirloom.

Hey, they're in season!

And hey, I'm Italian-American. Tomatoes come in many forms in this household.

Sorry for making you hungry. If you need a snack before you continue reading, I get it. (I'll wait for you).

Now answer me this: if you had an heirloom tomato in your hand, would you eat it within a day or so or eat it in a year?

You'd eat it soon because it'd go bad otherwise.

You could also blend it to make a sauce if it's gone a bit south. Or can it for the winter. But you wouldn't let it sit there to go bad.

Ya know, content is a lot like that.

Coming up with ideas

People have asked me how I come up with content ideas for clients or myself.

Truth is, I used to struggle with that - staring at a blinking cursor trying to force something out.

Now? I really don't "come up with ideas." I execute them when they come naturally.

Here's what I do:

  • Get organized. I have a pinned note in my Notes app & several Notion pages. You can also write things down the ol' fashioned way!
  • When an idea strikes, I either write it down or immediately execute it.

Because when content ideas come, you'll forget them if you do nothing. I've let too many ideas that popped into my head go to waste by not doing something with them. Rotten tomatoes!

Like tomatoes, you need to do something while the idea is hot or you'll forget.

When I need inspiration, I also know where and when my best ideas come to me.

If you need an idea, I suggest taking a walk. I always have better ideas after a yoga class too! Clearing your mind will often make way for ideas that come more naturally.

That being said, if you need an "ideas guy," I'm your guy. It's my favorite part of working in marketing! Hit reply if any of this resonated with you.

Love and pasta,

Dom

This is a quote from Soviet dissident Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn from his famous book, "The Gulag Archipelago." It's one I reflect on often, and it sits especially heavy on my heart after last week. "Gradually, it was disclosed to me that the line separating good and evil passes not through states, nor between classes, nor between political parties either—but right through every human heart—and through all human hearts." That's the newsletter for today. 🤍, Dom 1230 22nd Ave Kenosha, WI...

A few weeks ago, I was at my cousin's house and he asked, "Have you seen Kpop Demon Hunters?" And I was like.... no? He goes, "I'm putting it on." Loved it, 10/10, no notes. I don't know what I was expecting but it wasn't that. I went home and watched it again a few days later. (Am I hooked?) I won't spoil it, but it has a lot of philosophical story lines. Good & evil, feeling uncomfortable about our true selves, stepping into your power...it got deep! This movie became an international...

I woke up today to a brisk morning and realized it's almost SEPTEMBER?! K! Bye, where did summer go? Though I'm not looking forward to a long winter, the colder months are definitely when I reflect more. Last winter, I had damn near a whole reinvention of self. One could say I locked in. Locked in but never stressing It's not too late Q4 can really seem like a blur. Fall comes, the holidays follow, and boom - it's 2026. But last year, instead of falling into the mindset that the year is...
