Sunburn so good that it had me thinking

I got sunburnt last week at a 4th of July parade for the first time in a while.

As I write this, my arms are still peeling 😅 I was down bad! I could hardly shower and the air hurt me.

But as my sunburn heals, what's underneath? Fresh, healed, tanned skin (that is probably still a little damaged, but aren't we all?).

The lesson? Sometimes ya gotta get burned to start fresh!

I think every marketing service provider has gone through that conversation.

No matter which service you provide, we've all had a customer who feels burned. Burned by their past marketer, their strategy (or lack thereof), social media, or something else.

They know they need to market but they don't know how - that's why they hire people to do it for them.

But at the same time, they feel disconnected from their marketing efforts and feel the need to control the situation (which leads to burnout for the service provider and client).

I noticed this, and every time I ended up doing a job I wasn't even aware I was doing.

They needed help with their messaging *first*, not their marketing. We needed to get to the root of who we were talking to and why.

I.e., What stands the test of time regardless of where marketing moves?

Your story, your values, your messaging.

This is how you move from working in a place of panic to working in a place of alignment.

After helping clients through that, the rest of the marketing work seemed to flow again.

Centered > chaotic always.

That's all I got for this one!

Ciao for now,

This is a quote from Soviet dissident Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn from his famous book, "The Gulag Archipelago." It's one I reflect on often, and it sits especially heavy on my heart after last week. "Gradually, it was disclosed to me that the line separating good and evil passes not through states, nor between classes, nor between political parties either—but right through every human heart—and through all human hearts." That's the newsletter for today. 🤍, Dom 1230 22nd Ave Kenosha, WI...

A few weeks ago, I was at my cousin's house and he asked, "Have you seen Kpop Demon Hunters?" And I was like.... no? He goes, "I'm putting it on." Loved it, 10/10, no notes. I don't know what I was expecting but it wasn't that. I went home and watched it again a few days later. (Am I hooked?) I won't spoil it, but it has a lot of philosophical story lines. Good & evil, feeling uncomfortable about our true selves, stepping into your power...it got deep! This movie became an international...

I woke up today to a brisk morning and realized it's almost SEPTEMBER?! K! Bye, where did summer go? Though I'm not looking forward to a long winter, the colder months are definitely when I reflect more. Last winter, I had damn near a whole reinvention of self. One could say I locked in. Locked in but never stressing It's not too late Q4 can really seem like a blur. Fall comes, the holidays follow, and boom - it's 2026. But last year, instead of falling into the mindset that the year is...
